Trace's New Video is a Hoot - Take a Peak

Just got a peak at Trace's new Video "Marry for Money" and like some other fans was glad to see the producer/director decided to cut the foot rubbing scene.  It was fun, entertaining and irreverent, the last being my favorite part.  This "world premeire" is hosted by 923WIL out of St. Louis.

"Marry For Money" Video Has Been Shot But Not Released

After eight weeks “Marry for Money” (written by Dave Turnbull and Jimmy Melton) continues to climb the charts becoming Trace’s official fastest climbing single. It is number 17 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and 21 on the R&R. Trace’s X:Ten Album peaked at number 7, and is holding at number 27 this week.

Trace chose Michael Salomon again to produce the video for “Marry for Money” which has been shot, but not released. An interview on the set hints that the video will be full of laughs, on par with “I Got My Game” which Salomon also produced.

By the way, after 44 weeks on the charts “You’re Gonna Miss This” is still coming in at 16 on Hot Country Single Recurrents and Trace’s Greatest Hits Volume II which peaked on number 3 on Billboard’s Best Country Albums, is still number 30 after 67 weeks.

Trace To Perform With West Point Glee Club at ACM Awards

Sunday, April 5th is a big night for Trace fans. Not only is he nominated for two Academy of Country Music awards, Single and Song of the Year for “Your Gonna Miss This”, he will perform “Til the Last Shot’s Fired” backed up by the West Point Glee Club. The show airs on CBS at 8:00 p.m. This will be Trace’s first time singing the song with the West Point Glee Club on the same stage. When the song was cut for his X Album, Trace’s schedule kept him from being in the studio on the day the West Point singers recorded their track for the song.

“I just really hope the emotion doesn’t overwhelm me. I hope I can be a professional and get through this thing.” Trace told CMT. And in describing the tune off his latest album, X, he says the song begs the question, “What if soldiers that are killed in combat are in this, sort of, limbo and can’t rest until there’s peace, until the last shot is fired.” Damn. I’m practically crying already.

Trace’s performance is in support of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), which is the charity selected by the ACM's charitable fund. Profits from digital downloads of the song on iTunes will benefit the WWP.

"It's a privilege to perform this song with such a distinguished choir for the great servicemen and women in whose honor it was written," said Adkins.
"We should always let our military know how much we appreciate them putting their lives on the line for us every day. The WWP provides an incredible service to those wounded in combat, so it's an honor to donate proceeds of the performance downloads to support this important and worthy charity."

Trace, Tools, Tractors, Testosterone In Tennessee

DIY Network has been showing reruns of its Indoors Out episode with Trace, where their hosts Dean and Derek headed to Trace's rural Tennessee farm to build a rustic outdoor kitchen on the shore of his lake. Reruns are okay if you can catch them, but even better is being able to see the show whenever and as many times as you want! Recently, I found that a sponsor of the show, Living Stone, has the full version of the show streaming on its website. Is that cool or what!!

Laying Down A Challenge to Trace's Fan Club - Let's Walk

Registration is now open for the 2009 FAAN Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward A Cure! I am challenging Trace's fan club to double its fundraising efforts this year with another "virtual walk".

You all remember that Trace's daughter‚ Brianna, has severe food allergies. It was because of his daughter’s experience that Trace serves as National Honorary Chair of the Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward A Cure, which raises awareness and funds for food allergy education and research.

In 2008, Trace appeared on “The Celebrity Apprentice” in an effort to raise awareness of food allergies and support FAAN, an effort that helped them raise more than $2.3 million dollars!

“I know firsthand how important FAAN’s efforts to increase funding for food allergy reseach are,” says Trace. FAAN is the world leader in information about food allergy, a potentially fatal condition that affects approximately 12 million Americans, or one out of every 25, and is rapidly increasing in prevalence.

To register for the FAAN Walk for Food Allergy, please visit their newly redesigned Walk WEBSITE, and sign up for the Walk location nearest you! Can't make it to your nearest Walk? Sign up for Alexander's Hometown, USA, the Online Walk. You can join as an individual, as part of a team, or as a virtual walker.

Trace and Toby Will Tour Together This Summer!!!!

I am enjoying the stories coming in from various venues about Trace kicking the cigarette habit.  They say he is grumpy...

UNDATED (AP) -- There are two reasons why Trace Adkins gave up smoking at the end of last year. He had a persistent cough that he couldn't shake, and his daughters made him promise to kick the 26-year habit.

More than three months later, it seems that he's still struggling from nicotine withdrawals. Capitol Records President Mike Dungan joked during the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville last week, "If you thought he was grumpy before, you should see him now!"

Well duh!! We all have habits, some of them worse for our health than others. Trace kicked the alcohol habit, what five years ago, now we are piling on the nicotine guilt trip. Please don't tell the man he can't have caffeine which is also not good for you. I am happy Trace has decided not to smoke.  I added my messages to the list of fans engouraging him to kick the habit, and am also expecting a growl from the man because of it.

Of more newsworthy concern was the report that Trace is getting good marks for his current tongue-in-cheek single, "Marry For Money," at No. 17 on the USA Today Mediabase country singles chart.

Trace will shake things up this summer with Toby Keith on the America’s Toughest Tour. The concert schedule begins June 18 with a date in Holmdel, N.J.

TRACE AND TOBY KEITH.  Is there a heaven or what?

The tour, continues Keith's long association with concert promoter Live Nation, opens June 18 New Jersey with stops planned in Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Buffalo, Washington, DC, Hartford, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, St. Louis, Tampa, Virginia Beach, West Palm Beach and many more.

Please, please stop in South Carolina!!

I Caught Trace on the Glen Beck Show

Saturday evening the person in control of the remote control erroneously paused at the Glen Beck Show just long enough for me to hear that Trace would be appearing. Of course I already knew that, but the remote control operator didn't realize that until making the slight pause that made it completely clear among all in the living room, that Trace was about to grace prime time.

The result was that I got to hear Trace's interview with Glen and his performance of "Marry for Money". Trace didn't let me down with either. He was intelligent and articulate when responding to Glen's questions and his performance of the song was a pleasure to my ears. By the way "Marry for Money" is #21 on Billboard's Hot Country Music Charts this week and his album "X" is holding at #25, up from #28 last week.

Prior to Trace and band, "Sarepta Gentlemen's Club's" performance, Glen brought up the subject of "Until the Last Shot's Fired" and performing for the military troops. Trace commented on his experiences with the USO, saying that he has always come away feeling that the soldiers had blessed him in some way rather than vice versa. I know that Trace is wrong in that regard because I know some of those soldiers personally - they need and appreciate the attention of someone like Trace and even someone like you and me.

My "adopted" son, James is about to embark on his eighth tour of duty - this time back to Afghanistan. I called my daughter's house and heard him coughing in the background. "Would James like some homemade chicken soup," I asked. My daughter answered affirmative, but he leaves for the base at 6:00 p.m., please include the saltines, she instructed.

Along with the homemade soup and box of saltines, I included apples, oranges, Hall's Vitamin C Drops and Zicam. I swear Zicam works - everyone around me has had colds or the flu numerous times this winter - I've had a cold one day (24 hours). The hard part is - you have to use the Zicam you squirt up your nose. It's the only one that works.

I delivered the homemade chicken soup and Zicam, with the instructions that if it didn't work, he should fall back on the German cure.

"The German Cure?" he asked.

"Yes," I said, "it was developed by a German doctor."

My daughter said, "But mom, Ralf came up with that when he was 17."

"Yea but he is a doctor now," I reassured her.

"What's the German cure," our Marine asked.

"You stand in the hotest shower you can tolerate while guzzling the coldest beer you can find," I told him.

"That doctor is a genious," he said.
