Before Trace released the second album of greatest hits, he was working on another new album that was nearing completion. He has performed at least one new song that is hinted to be on the new album and there are hints that he would take time off this April to complete it. But April is almost gone and the hints have dried up.
With "You're Gonna Miss This" still at number one for three weeks in a row, I can see how his record company may want to delay any talk about new releases, but I am chomping at the bit. I've written before that the current number one is not among my favorite Trace songs; which, of course, meant that it would be a number one.
If any of you have heard whispers about what's on the new album. Please let me know.

I LOVE WHEN TRACE SINGS GOSPEL
If you haven't heard Trace sing Wayfaring Stranger from the new How Great Thou Art, Grand Ole Opry Gospel Favorites Album, you have got to give it a spin. Trace hits all my favorite notes and it gave me goosebumps the first, second, third and fourth time I heard it.
My Rhapsody Playlist
Now listen to Trace sing the same song in 1997 on his first album, Big Time. His voice ages like fine wine.

Congratulations Trace On Your Big CMT Win

Trace's fans are grinning from ear to ear today after watching the CMT awards; he won best male video for "I Got My Game On."
Trace has the best fan club in the world, that is why I know the reporter for CNN who wrote....Adkins was something of a surprise winner, topping videos by Chesney, Paisley, Toby Keith and Keith Urban... knows next to nothing about Trace. His fans worked very hard to bring Trace this win.
"I’ve never felt the support from the fans like I’m feeling it this year. This is voted on by the fans, so I really appreciate it." -- Trace Adkins
In addition to the CMT belt buckle, Trace received a donation to his favorite charity, FAAN. CMT One Country donated $2,500 to the winners in each category of the 2008 CMT Music Awards for the charity of their choice.

Trace Exploits Celebrity to Benefit FAAN
America's favorite Celebrity Apprentice, Trace Adkin's spotlight couldn't come at a better time for the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN). While Trace did not win donations to his favorite charity from the show, his fans have stepped up to the plate and donated over half of the $250,000 Celebrity Apprentice jackpot to FAAN in his name. And, television, radio, magazine and newspaper venues are publicizing the eleventh annual Food Allergy Awareness Week, May 11–17, an event that hardly received notice before Trace's Celebrity Apprentice appearance.
He will be featured on the cover of Country Weekly in May with an interview about his involvement in FAAN.
While Trace fans are suffering from withdrawel from so much Trace face time while he appeared on the weekly Apprentice, he is scheduled to show up from time to time on television and the big screen. See the sidebar for future dates which include The Young and the Restless and a Christmas Movie called An American Carol.

Trace Continues to Expand His Career Beyond the Radio and Concert Circuit
According to Kasey Bell of the Country Hound, Trace will appear on the big screen at Christmas time in a new version of A Christmas Carol. Bell says....
Trace has been cast in the new comedy American Carol. The movie is a take on Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol, and will feature Trace as the "Spirit of Christmas Future" in the form of the Grim Reaper. The film stars Kelsey Grammar of Frasier fame as Ebenezer Scrooge, and will include guest appearances by Jon Voight, Leslie Nielsen, Dennis Hopper and many others. Directed by David Zucker, who directed Airplane! and two of the Naked Gun films, American Carol is slated for release later this year.
According to a press release, Adkins' character "uses his special musical abilities to bring insight to Scrooge in an effort to help him avoid an inevitable and tragic end."
